As a thank you for being so supportive in my first year as a musician, I went into the studio and recorded some songs for you. They aren't fancy - just one take, me and my guitar, live. But they are for you to listen to and download.
Three of these songs are covers that are very important to me:
- Make Me Down A Pallet is an old song, originally by Mississippi John Hurt that was amended and covered by Gillian Welch and then that version of the song was amended and covered by me to include some of MJH's original verses. I play this song at every show and it's about time I made a recording of it!
- Iowa is a song by Dar Williams that was important to me both at camp as a youngster and as a student at Grinnell College (in Iowa), and is still one of my favorite songs to play.
- Hold On by Tom Waits was one of my dad's favorite songs. He introduced me to it years ago and it is one of the songs that I couldn't get out of my head after he went missing. "Hold on, hold on, babe, you gotta hold on. Take my hand, I'm standing right here, you gotta hold on."
I am also including a NEW ORIGINAL SONG called Ballad of the Oldest Daughter.
